SAS Field Trip: Nimbus Fish Hatchery

Registration is NOT required for this trip.
Please note Daylight Savings Time ends the morning of this trip.

Field Trip Leader: Dan Williams

Join Dan for a morning walk identifying gulls and riparian species along the American River downstream of Lake Natoma and Nimbus Dam. Mergansers, goldeneye and cormorants should be plentiful, and raptors, including Osprey, Bald Eagle, and Peregrine Falcon are always a welcome sight. Spotting scopes are useful, as are field guides and the various birding apps for identification. Prepare for variable weather. This trip ends late morning.

Meeting Location: Meet Dan in the parking lot at the Nimbus Fish Hatchery.

Directions: From Hwy 50 go north on Hazel Avenue; turn left on Gold Country Blvd. Make an immediate right on Nimbus Road and follow the signs to the hatchery.
