EFFIE YEAW NATURE CENTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS

Given by Sacramento Audubon birders and naturalists, our 30 - 60 minute presentations are available for a variety of groups from students to garden clubs. An Audubon volunteer will work with your group to try to find the right program.
For Kids & Students

-
Students learn about the basics of climate change with a focus on the latest science. A follow-up presentation is available on how fish, wildlife, and their habitats are changing.
-
The Federal Junior Duck Stamp Conservation and Design Program is a dynamic art and science based curriculum that teaches wetland and waterfowl conservation to students in kindergarten through high school. The program encourages students to explore their natural world, invites them to investigate biology and wildlife management principles, and challenges them to express and share what they have learned with others.
Volunteers from Sacramento Audubon will help with the implementation of different aspects of the curriculum.

California Thrashers hide within dense chaparral. Oak Titmice sing from the cover of Scrub and Live Oak. White-tailed Kite hover over open grasslands. These birds and many other birds depend on the specific and varied habitats of the Sacramento Valley. This 60 minutes presentation looks at how different habitat influence the birds seen there.
Bird Walks for Groups
Scouting groups, homeschool groups, garden clubs, and families are just some of those who have joined us for educational bird walks in the greater Sacramento Area. We’ll help you chose a great location and set you up with an expert leader.
There is no cost for Sacramento Audubon Society’s walks or presentations. Our hope is that participants will be inspired to join additional Sacramento Audubon activities and develop a deeper interest in the environment.
