Field Trip: Sierra Valley/Yuba Pass

Meeting Times: 7:30 AM at public parking in Auburn, 9:00 AM in Sierra Valley.

Participants must email John if planning to attend this trip.

Field Trip Leader: John York

We will proceed first to Yuba Pass and walk the trail looking for warblers, juncos, Williamson’s Sapsuckers, and grosbeaks. If we are not too late, we should get some young birds before they leave the area. We will then descend into the valley and hit all the hot spots including looking for Sandhill Crane youngsters, Sage Thrashers, and Yellow-headed Blackbirds. This is an all-day trip. Bring lunch, snacks, and drinks. Dining options are very limited to non-existent.

Meeting Location: Meet at the public parking facility 120 Grass Valley Highway in Auburn.

Directions: From Sacramento, on I-80 E, take Exit 119B toward Grass Valley. The parking facility will be in about 0.2 of a mile on the right. We will leave the parking lot promptly at 7:30 AM for Sierra Valley. Any parties interested in meeting us in Sierra Valley should meet us at the breakfast eatery at the intersection in Sierraville at 9:00 AM.
