Guest Speaker: Dan Airola

Dan Airola gives us a closer look at three species of local birds that are of conservation concern: Tricolored Blackbird, Yellow-billed Magpie, and Purple Martin.

Dan Airola is a wildlife biologist who works on research and conservation initiatives focused on endangered bird species and their relationships with urban habitats, boasting a portfolio of over 60 scientific publications. His work spans diverse subjects, including the population status, ecology, and conservation of the Purple Martin and Tricolored Blackbird, the significance of native oaks for migratory and resident birds in urban habitats, Turkey Vulture and Swainson’s Hawk migration, and the impacts of West Nile Virus on bird populations.

Please RSVP on the SVC’s website by 6pm the evening prior. Space is limited. Parking and admission are free, but donations are encouraged ($5-$20 per person recommended). All money collected will be split between SVC and a nonprofit chosen by the presenter. Complete your liability waiver in advance for faster check-in.
