Field Trip Leader: Peter Perrine
Hidden Falls Regional Park is a beautiful example of oak/gray pine woodlands in the Sierra Nevada foothills. An eBird hotspot, with more than 115 bird species found here (so far), it is a very popular destination not only for wildlife, but also for its scenic beauty and waterfalls. Expect to see a good variety of oak woodland and riparian birds, with early nesters displaying, migrants moving through and the usual wintering birds still in good numbers. This will be a somewhat strenuous trip of about five miles, total. The first mile from the trailhead descends about 300 feet to a small stream, which of course means a one mile climb at the end of the day. Not steep, but trails here can be slippery after a rain. We should be finished about noon or a bit later. Bring water and snacks, and lunch if you wish - there are picnic tables and a restroom near the parking lot.
Directions and confirmation of exact meeting location and time will be provided upon registration.
