SAS Field Trip: Lincoln Wastewater Treatment Facility

Registration is NOT required for this field trip.

Field Trip Leader: Jane Taylor

Plan to meet at the north end of the parking lot at the plant. We will check in with staff before searching for waterfowl, shorebirds and raptors in or near the treatment ponds. Spotting scopes are handy for I.D. of these birds.  After tallying birds found here, we have the option of having lunch or snacks at a suburban park with a restroom near Ingram Slough, not far from the plant.  We can walk along the slough looking for marsh and perching birds, and if there is sufficient water present, more waterfowl. Tri-colored Blackbirds have historically been found here, but there is habitat disruption in the area.

Meeting Location: The treatment plant is located at 1245 Fiddyment Road. Plan to meet at the north end of the parking lot at the plant.

Directions: From Hwy 65 going north, take the Sunset Blvd exit, turning left. In .3 miles turn right on Placer Corporate Dr. In .3 miles turn right on Industrial Ave. In 1 1/4 miles turn left onto Athens Ave. In 2.3 miles turn right onto Fiddyment Rd. In 1.6 miles turn right into the water treatment facility. Fiddyment can also be accessed from Pleasant Grove or Blue Oaks Blvd further south on Hwy 65, and from the north on Hwy 65, right on Nelson Ave, right on Moore Rd and left on Fiddyment.
