SAS Field Trip: Robinson Road, Solano County

Registration is required for this trip and will be limited to 10 – 12* participants. Please email Maureen to register.

Field Trip Leader: Maureen Geiger

Northern Harriers, White-tailed Kites and Red-tailed Hawks are common during the winter with Ferruginous and Rough-legged Hawks found most years. Bald and Golden Eagles are occasional, as are Loggerhead Shrikes. Ag fields may offer large flocks of Horned Larks, Long-billed Curlews and American Pipits and Burrowing Owls have been found. Other species seen regularly are Say’s Phoebes, Western Bluebirds and Savannah Sparrows. This area can be excellent for wintering Mountain Plovers although they are not consistently reliable. There are no restroom facilities along the route.

*This trip works better with fewer cars due to the very narrow ag-land roads. We can accommodate more people if participants arrange to ride with others.
