SAS Field Trip: Searching for Empidonax Flycatchers

Registration is required for this trip and it will be limited to 8 participants. Please email Kevin to register.

Field Trip Leader: Kevin Thomas

This trip will focus on a spring migration of Empidonax flycatchers in the Sacramento area. Kevin will be scouting areas and reports the week prior to the trip to identify a location that has produced good Empidonax flycatcher activity. We will look to find our migrant Dusky, Gray, and Hammond’s along with other migratory birds returning from the South. The location will have dirt walking trails and will include some short up and downhill segments.

Directions and confirmation of exact meeting location and time will be provided upon registration. A Sacramento County Parks Pass or $7 daily fee may be required.
