Wild Things Walk - A Bufferlands Event

Walk on the Wildside is on hold for another year, but Regional San is happy to invite you for a Wild Things Walk on Saturday May 21st. Come spend some time walking miles of open trails around the Regional San Bufferlands. Our trails will be staffed with biologists and docents to help you find your way and to answer any nature-related questions. This is a great time to see our riparian forests, oak woodlands, and seasonal wetlands, all in their spring beauty. During this time of year, Swainson’s Hawks are seen soaring in the sky, broods of ducklings and goslings are readily spotted in the wetlands, and many of the rookery trees are full of nesting double-crested cormorants. There will be a handful of exhibitors at the trailhead, including NorCal Bats and the Sacramento Valley Chapter of the California Native Plant Society (SVCNPS). SVCNPS will host a small native plant and seed sale and will lead a botany walk through our Oak Forest Trail. The fun and exciting day will also include two wild animal shows (10 am and Noon) by Wild Things, Inc. This local wild animal rescue provides an informative and entertaining program using rescued wildlife ambassadors that are not able to be released into the wild.

The event will begin at 7 AM and close at 3 PM. Event and parking are free. Dress for the weather and bring a water bottle. No food vendors will be onsite, but feel free to pack a picnic or whatever trail snacks you think that you will need.
