Come explore these open oak hills with us! The Rollingwood Bluffs are a part of a series of parks around the Folsom Lake area. In the breeding season, this site hosts a well-known nesting pair of Bald Eagles that attracts many visitors, birders and non-birders alike. What is special about this field trip is that we will be visiting at the peak of spring migration! Beautiful, brightly colored neotropical migrants will be streaming through the woods. We expect to see most of the spring warblers, from the sulky MacGillivray’s to the vibrant Wilson's warbler. This site is very good for our summer flycatchers, including some of the rarer species, like Dusky and Gray Flycatchers. We also have high chances for other migratory birds, such as Lazuli Bunting, Warbling Vireo, Western Tanager, and Black-headed Grosbeak. Please pack water, wear sunscreen, and bring snacks! Bug spray may also be necessary. We may have to descend down steep hills, but most of our walk will be on flat terrain. Overall, it will be a very exciting day!
