Young Birders Club Field Trip: American River Parkway-Sailor Bar

Field Trip Leader: Mackenzie Hollander, sacaudubonyoungbirders@gmail.com
Supervisor: Kevin Hollander

This is a Young Birders Club field trip. Participation is limited to members of the Sacramento Valley Young Birders Club. Registration is through the young birders club Slack. Please go to www.sacramentoaudubon.org/young-birders-club to become a member.

Come explore this unique birding location where grassland and oak hills blend nicely with the riverside wooded areas along the American River. On this field trip we will be birding in a multitude of habitats and we expect to see a variety of birds. Two target species include the Phainopepla and the Rufous-crowned Sparrow. We also have a possibility of seeing Common and Barrow's Goldeneye, Glaucous-winged Gull, Lark Sparrow, California Quail, Acorn Woodpecker, Bufflehead, Spotted Sandpiper, and many of our wintering raptors.

Restrooms are available in the parking lot. If in the case of heavy rainfall, the field trip may be canceled. Path may be muddy so wear appropriate shoes.
