Field Trip: Yuba Pass and Sierra Valley

Registration is NOT required for this field trip.

Trip times listed include driving to and from Park-N-Ride.

Field Trip Leader: Chris Conard

Yuba Pass is an excellent area to find several species of woodpeckers, along with other surprises, including potential for Red Crossbill, Evening Grosbeak, and a host of mid-elevation breeding birds. Sierra Valley should have ample water to hold a nice variety of breeding water birds, sagebrush, and grassland birds.

Be prepared for easy walking of up to two miles. Bring water and food for the day (including lunch), since we won’t be near any towns for most of the day.

Meeting Location: Meet at the Horseshoe Bar Road Park & Ride in Loomis.

Directions: From Sacramento, head east toward Reno. Take Exit 110 onto Horseshoe Bar Rd. Turn left on to Horseshoe Bar Road. Parking is immediately on the right.
