For the second year, Sacramento Audubon Society participated in Chalk It Up!, a local arts festival/arts fundraiser in Midtown Sacramento held annually on Labor Day Weekend. The artist, Dawn Pedersen dawnpedersen.com, created a gorgeous pop art chalk mural of a Raven. With its iconic shape and bold coloring, “The Raven” received “rave” reviews from festival attendees.

Outreach Committee Chair, Bill Bianco, and volunteers Cathie LaZier, Sue Darst, Marti Ikehara, and Daphne Reimer helped out at the outreach table over the 3 day event. Many people stopped by the table to pick up information. Others wanted to share their bird stories. It was heartening to learn how many people in our community support birds with feeders, plantings, and rescue efforts. All in all, it was a successful outreach weekend despite the scorching heat. We even sold a few SAS pins.
