As an entirely volunteer run organization, volunteers are essential to our continuance. Current volunteer openings include Education Chair and Conservation Chair.

February and March are excellent months for birding in the Central Valley. Many wintering birds such as ducks and geese are still in the area as winter transitions into spring. Veteran Birder and Sacramento Audubon Field Trip Leader, Sonja Sorbo, offers suggestions for local birding sites to visit in February.

The 2022 Great Backyard Bird Count (GBBC) is February 18- 21, 2022.

Join us online on February 17, 2022 at 7pm for The Birding Capital presented by Jamieson Scott. You must register for the meeting, but there is no cost to register and you do not have to be a member of the Sacramento Audubon Society.

Sacramento Audubon is gradually returning to volunteer-led field trips. As the pandemic continues, we have added precautions for everyone’s safety. We are only offering a few field trips each month and registration is required for all participants.

This year’s Great Backyard Bird Count (GBBC) is February 18- 21, 2022. You can participate in this world-wide annual event and help scientists study the numbers and movements of birds around the world.
