Field Trip Leader: Cliff Feldheim
The Consumes Preserve River Walk Trail is a flat, dirt trail on a raised levee with both shaded and open sections. Based on the desire of the group, we can walk as much as a 3 mile loop or do short walks into different areas along the slough, River, or wetlands. The walk should provide good looks within wooded riparian habitats as well as grasslands, and pockets of wetland/slough habitats. We will look for resident and migratory birds. Cliff first worked with the Nature Conservancy to add conservation lands to the Preserve in 1998. He will share the history and conservation / management of the Preserve as well as the unique ecology of the area. Bring lunch, snacks, and water.
